Check Out Kortney Sutton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kortney Sutton.

kortney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Jenny Lou’s Greenery is a small flower and plant shop that my sisters and I started in honor of our mom, Jenny. She loved flowers, plants, and making people feel at home. After we lost her to cancer in 2020, we wanted to create something meaningful that reflected her kind heart and the joy she brought to others.

What began as a way to keep her memory alive has slowly grown into a business we’re very proud of. We offer fresh flowers, houseplants, home goods, and thoughtful gifts, along with arrangements for everyday occasions, weddings, and special events. We also enjoy hosting classes, such as terrarium workshops and flower arranging classes, which give us a chance to connect with our community and share our love of plants and flowers.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received, and we do our best to create a welcoming space where people can find something beautiful and feel cared for—just like our mom always made others feel.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges we faced as a business was navigating the uncertainty of COVID-19. Like many small businesses, we had to adapt quickly to changing circumstances while continuing to serve our customers and support our employees.

As the business continued to grow, we also faced the challenge of outgrowing our original space. We needed more room to accommodate our expanding floral design operations, storage, and inventory, which ultimately led us to purchase a larger building.

Throughout these challenges, the support of our community made all the difference. Our customers’ loyalty and encouragement allowed us not only to persevere during difficult times, but to continue growing and investing in the future of Jenny Lou’s Greenery.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re known for the unique gifts and home goods we’ve carefully curated for the shop. Many of the items are inspired by our love of traveling and discovering special pieces from around the world, and we make a conscious effort to support women-owned businesses whenever possible.

We’re also known for our luxury floral arrangements, which are designed to feel both elevated and personal. Many of our arrangements are displayed in handcrafted ceramic vases made by our in-house potter, adding an extra special and one-of-a-kind touch to our floral designs.

How do you think about happiness?
What brings us the most joy is being able to combine our family’s creative passions into the daily life of Jenny Lou’s Greenery.

During the summer months, we grow many of the flowers used in the shop. Our sister Kelsea is our flower grower and lovingly cultivates everything from dahlias to Bells of Ireland.

Our sister Kortney is the potter behind the beautiful handmade vases, planters, and mugs we offer in the shop.

Our sister Karlea is a music therapist who brings her creativity and love of music into everything she does.

Each of our unique talents and hobbies plays a role in the business, making Jenny Lou’s Greenery a true reflection of our family. Being able to work together and share what we love with our community is what makes us happiest.
